A year ago I finally made the permanent switch from dairy to oat milk, before that I occasionally used oat milk but not consistently because I was yet to find an oat milk that I liked for tea.

Then I discovered barista oat milk! It doesn't curdle, unlike homemade or most standard oat milks making it so much nicer in coffee and tea. I also love that they're long life like that I don't have to worry about always having fresh milk. I have tried most of the barista editing of oat milk available to me and I have 2 favourites.

  • Oatly: This is the first one I found and was the reason I stopped drinking dairy but since the story broke of the new investors in the company and their links to deforestation and other bad practices, I stop buying it on a regular basis. It is still my favourite flavour and texture wise but I do prefer to support companies with better ethics. I occasionally buy a carton when I run out as it's the only barista edition available in my local shop but I avoid it when I can.

  • Minor figures: This is my new regular, great flavour and close second texture wise to Oatly. Ethics wise it's a great uk brand, very transparent. It's also very accessible through my online shop of choice.

Other brands I have tried are Rude health and Califia farms, although they weren't bad the flavour in these two was a bit overpowering for a cup of tea.

In conclusion, as much as I love Oatly's product, Minor figures comes out ahead as my main choice as a company.
